Group Rules
The Church of Decemberism prides itself on being a safe, inclusive, conflict-free community. Before joining, please take a look at the rules to make sure it’s the right fit for you.
No bullying/threats/malicious trolling.
No racism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia or abelism under any circumstances. Any abusive or bullying content, threats, or malicious “trolling” will be instantly deleted and the perpetrator permanently banned from the group.
Please stay on topic.
All posts must relate to the Decemberists or their other musical side projects, art by Carson Ellis, or group inside jokes/memes. All other subjects can be posted in dedicated off-topic threads or in our Discord server in the appropriate channels.
No gatekeeping!
No one cares who has been a fan the longest or who has the most band pics. Sure, go ahead and brag about it (because we will), but be welcoming to the one who still has yet to experience them live, or who just heard Burial Ground.
Use CWs and be careful when referencing violence.
Please use Content Warnings for any difficult and/or potentially triggering content. If asked to add one after the fact, please do so. Please also self-censor any triggering or violent words (e.g. lyrics from “Culling of the Fold”) so the algorithm doesn’t flag us- see the featured posts for more info on this.
No spamming.
Spamming the board (repeated posts of the same or similar material) is verboten. Posts will be deleted and, if deemed appropriate by the mod team, the responsible party will be removed from the group.
Selling tickets/merch: NO SCALPING.
If you need to sell a ticket, that’s cool, but face value or less only. Scalpers will NOT be tolerated. If you have merch you wanna sell, go for it! Free market rules apply here.
Don’t steal/report others’ content.
Credit must be given when possible. Do not take others’ work for anything other than personal use. This includes images, memes, lyric transcriptions, masterposts, etc. Always ask for permission!
Reporting procedure:
If you need to report something, message or tag a mod. We also have keyword alerts set up if you use words like “mod”, “admin”, “matriarch”, etc. Please try to avoid using the report function when possible.
No blocking admins/mods.
In order to do our jobs and keep the group safe and fun, the mod team needs to see all posts and comments. Blocking a mod or admin may result in a ban from the group.
NO STALKING OF THE BAND OR THEIR FAMILY.
This should go without saying but it is the internet, and you just never know. Do not Google or search for any sort of non-public information. It is not welcome. Not even as a joke.
